Order and Customer Data

SKU IQ offers order syncing, which allows you to send Shopify order data into the Square platform or vice versa.

Contact the SKU IQ support team if you’d like to enable order syncing within SKU IQ. This feature is not enabled by default and requires us to gather some details from you in order to set it up correctly. Additional fees may apply depending on your subscription level.

Note: When order syncing is enabled, merchants must manually update quantities if a customer ever returns an item. Enabling order syncing breaks the automatic quantity adjustments in the case of a return or exchange. Order updates are not sent through SKU IQ, so only the original order information is sent to the POS.

Order syncing is compatible with all the eCommerce platforms supported by SKU IQ.

When an online sale is created, SKU IQ identifies the online order data and creates a copy of that order in Square.

When the Shopify sale occurs, we send the following fields to Square:

  • Line Items
  • Total
  • Subtotal
  • Taxes
  • Customer
  • Discounts

Note: When SKU IQ pushes an order to Square, we check to see if there is an existing customer in Square with the same email. If there is, we use the existing customer data located in Square. If SKU IQ does not detect an existing Square customer, we create a new one using the Shopify customer data.

Orders created from Shopify can be seen on the Transactions page of the Square dashboard. Shopify orders can take anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes to display in Square. The transaction name contains the name of the products sold in the order.

Click on the transaction in Square to see the details of the Shopify order.
